got thumped in a drag today... it was a sad, sad day.

admittedly it was a ducatti road bike (a 996 i think)... a very, very fast one, but still disappointing

he gave me applause and commented on my "very nice car" tho, which was nice Smile

Dewd, you have no chance... Those things do the quarter in 11s or so....

I've raced 600s before, even with passengers, they thrash me even before I'm out of first gear!

any decent road bike that is bigger than a 600 should be doing 0-100 in around 4 seconds flat....

They'll whip most cars as they can do this in first gear!

Now a Ducatti 996 is much more than a decent bike.... so this should have been expected.

sure, anytime.
I've got no qualms about getting beaten... I'll race anybody if they want to... I just do it for the fun, not (only) for the joy of winning, tho that's always nice

incidentally, I plan to head up to newcastle next free time I have, visit a couple of med students i know at the uni

anybody who can ride a GSX1300R busa to 9s in stock form has my respect, it takes a hell of a good rider to do this, even on an R1....i doubt most riders could do it!

I'm pretty sure a Busa would be quicker over 1/4 mile than an R1.

R1's are very over rated... very cool.... but over rated

R1's dont have much more power then naw ZX9R's,CBR900RR's so they Are VERY overrated altho they are real quick and look sweet Smile

Re: the ma61 1jz-gte gets beaten Wed, 01 January 2003 06:46 Go to previous message
No, but the R1 is a race bike. it's lighter. it's not designed for much else. The cbr 900 and the zx9 are very quick, but are more of an all rounder sports bike. They're comfortable as far as a sports bike goes, but they're quick too. An R1 will do 10 sec down the straight if used by the right rider. The busa is not a bike to throw around. it's meant for high speed. Anyone who's got one, just try and throw it around some succesive corners. can do, but more difficult than the other bikes mentioned. busa's are heavier.

All those bikes are lovely. that's just a bit of info. I've also got a great respect for any car that can keep up with any of these bikes.

you have to look at what the bikes are designed for and not just on personal opinion.

Now, contradictingly, that's my 2 cents!
