Postage of large bulky items Tue, 28 June 2005 09:34 Go to next message
Has anyone here ever had to get something posted like, say, a front bar, interstate from (for example) brisbane to sydney?

If so, will australia post do a package that large? Or would I need to see another company? Also, how much am I looking at having to spend to get something like that posted down to me?

Just wondering how much money I'd be looking at spending to get something like that posted to me.

Thanks in advance

Cheers,
James

As long as it's wraped up well a courier like Tamex would be faster and cheaper i think.
Cost something like $20 to get a guard to brisbane from here so a front bar should be about the same.

auspost has a limit on both total dimensions, and a single dimension.. but weightwise, they go to 20kg..

you might be able to post larger from a business post office tho...

Yep technically Aus Post will not accept any item over 105cms, although I must admit I've posted larger items without issue - I suppose it depends on your post master, but in short, I'd get the item you want to move, couriered to you.

That sounds like the way to go. Friends want to road trip it up there... but I'd spend more in fuel than I would in courier costs!

If you had to hazard a guess, how much would the front bar weigh. So then I can call some couriers and find out the costs that may be involved.
