ive been using the search function on this topic a lot, theres lots of info but all in little dribs and drabs ... i just want a definitive list to make me wanna go ahead with it or realise its not worth the effort... yes i would prefer a 1JZ, but i hear thats a lot trickier to get in..
wiring it up dosnt phase me, im a 2nd year adult apprentice electrician ... and the fuel system shouldnt be too complicated, maybe a lift pump going into a surge tank and then a chunky pump from there to the engine..
basically i wanna know whats the easiest way to get a boosted toyota 6 into a 80s/90s hilux... here goes:
1) which year/model hilux and which year/model front cut is most ideal for fitment?
2) which sump is required?
3) are there any engine mounts that are available off the shelf/2nd hand from another car that will see it line up right?
4) will the cross members all bolt up ok? require modifications?
5) hydraulic clutch issues? does the hilux have one as standard, or am i gonna have to pull the cylinder/ressy off a front cut?
6) whats required with the drive shaft?
7) will the firewall require a beating?
8) is the exhaust on the same side? and will the standard turbo dump pipe foul on anything, or will it be easy enough to just get a cat back system slapped on to that?
9) will i have to put new fuel lines in?
10) no room for a front mount intercooler huh?
11) will the diff ratio need changing to be "ideal" with the 1g-gte's 5 speed? and how tricky/expencive would slapping a LSD center in be?
12) will i need a different radiator? thermos a must...
13) battery need relocating?
14) have i forgotton anything?
if anybody has a realistic idea of what this is all gonna cost, with the majority of the work being done myself, including the initial cost of a hilux ... please let me know... if the hassle to cost ratio gets out of hand i might just end up buying a VLt :-\
