got a 4ac ae82 and the fucker wont start, turn the key and nothing, charged the battery up and still nothing, bridged the starter signal terminal on the starter with positive power from battery and nothing.
is my starter stuffed? doesnt even click!
it was starting weird last time it cranked over... wasnt smooth,

hmm ive got 12V constant to the starter, and 12V's on the signal wire when i crank it
but there is no starter! no click no nothing
dead?

pull the solenoid off it see if something is stuck in there , usualy theres 2 long bolts which hold it onto the actual motor. usually they will still click even if they are had it. dont know how yours works but is the earth strap connected properly?

my starter motor does that too, every now and then i jump in the car to go and the thing just doesnt do anything no clicks or anything jump start the bastard and its fine for a few weeks then it might happen again or not depends on how much of a hurry your are in that day, if u got all the time in the world it works first shot but if ur in a rush the fucker knows it and dies on ya. i've just put up with it coz i havent been naffed to gettina new one and fitting it

well it was fried thats for sure...melted the solanoid...
