Ke70 info wanted (vs t18)

I was just after a bit of info on ke70's. The reason for this thread is that we are currently racing a bit of a budget t18, it had a fair bit of rust removed but its not too bad. Soon we will be acquiring a ke70 for free. It has minor rust and requires front seats but it generally roadworthy. The t18 is currently un-roadworthy and not registered so has to be towed around everywhere. It is too far gone to get back to a registered state e.g. no interior, heater, emissions gear etc etc.
We are considering registering the ke70, then swapping all the t18 gear into it and using it as the race car.
How does the ke70 chassis compare in weight and structural rigidity.
Are the parts interchangable e.g. could we put the 3t on t18 cross member along with t50 and t series rear end into the ke70. Would ra60 struts and brakes with sigma control arms still be doable.
Is there any reason this is a bad idea, except for the additional effort? I know once the ke70 is back to similar condition to the t18 is now it will be unroadworthy, but a few competitors have done a similar thing and just risk the chance of a defect in the short drive to the track once a month.
The problem with the t18 is towing and the inability to do any form of testing anywhere.
Thanks for any input. If we dont swap to the ke70 the t18 will be starting its next load of mods soon.

First concern: KE70 has a steering rack bolted to the crossmember, T18 has an old-school steering box. Nothing that can't be modified though.

Yeah, rack and pinion would be an improvement though compared to the lovely recirculating ball setup.
The pair of us that drive the car havent foudn the standard steering too bad.
I think we have pretty much decided against this idea now already though on the basis of effort for little gain. Might have to find another way to get the car or at least some way to be able to drive it on the road for testing etc.
Might just turn the ke70 into another bush basher, free thrills for no effort.

move out into the bush. or take the car out to somewhere like where i live
near no traffic, minimal chance of cops and not too many whinging neighbours.
i drive my cars down the street and havent had too many problems so far
out where i live there is an "old highway" , its straight but a little bumpy. plenty of corners and hills too

In America, the E70 sedans had a 3T motor standard. (TE71, TE72 etc..) I think all 70 series corollas with a T series motor (2T-GEU, 3T) had the old recirc-ball steering box. I think only later KE, and all AE Corollas had the rack and pinion. I think the T motors have a bigger sump and block so the rack and pinion does not fit under them.
So... I think you will have to go back to the old steering box in the KE70 if you want to use a T motor, and have it all "bolt in". So swap the whole TE72 crossmember over. Gearbox crossmember and shifter hole maybe in a slightly different spot, not sure.

The only reason the rack and pinion didn't fit in my KE70/2T-G project was that the engine to gearbox angle bracket fouled on the boss where the steering column entered the rack body.
I just removed the passenger side bracket and have had no problems thus far with the engine torquing off the gearbox...
