I'm looking for parts for a 4A-GE to put into my '71 celica. Here is a list:
oilpan (center sump) with pick-up tube
intake manifold (carborated preferably)
exhaust manifold or headers
distributor with machanical and vaccume advance
motor mounts off of a sprinter RWD
throwout bearing
I also need advise for an easier install and I'm low on money. Any help would be great.

I had a throwout bearing built by a local machinist and all i really need is a distributor with the mechanical and vaccume advances. Can anyone please help me with where I can locate this part or if I can even get one. thanx

hey dude, couple of things :
1. center sump (you sure, what model celica, i'm putting a 4AGE in a ta22 and it needs a front mounted sump - so either RWD or FWD fits fine.
2. intake manifold - 4AGE's only came as EFI as far as i'm aware - so this would be a custom application. there is a mob here in australia that do them : http://www.redlineauto.com.au/manifold.html
3. custom headers would need to be made, no off the shelf headers for this motor for a 71 celica. a rwd cast manifold would be a good start tho (hard and expensive to get now)
4. distributor with mech advance - custom item again.
5. the engine mounts - custom items again. ae86 sprinter items will not bolt up to the early celica crossmember.
6. a throwout bearing for a T50 from an ae86 will be what you need. if you have a T50 gearbox in the celica now it won't bolt up to the 4AGE - different bellhousing and different box (20 spline in celica vs 22 spline in ae86)
you also need to think about water fittings and radiator too..

Hey Grega,
Thanks for the help buddy. About the oil-pan, yeah I need a center sump pan because the cross-member in the American models is different from the Australian models. The cross-member curves to the front of the car instead of the back. All my research has led me to believe this because everyone at toymods tells me that I need the front sump pan. I have changed motors twice already and currently have a 20R in it, which has a center sump pan. I did plan on building an intake manifold that will fit four (4) Mikuni carbs. And I have an exhaust header for a '85 Corolla GTS on the way that I hope will fit. I'm not sure if I have a T-50 trany but I do know it came out of a '86 Corolla GTS. But I got the throwout bearing from an 18R-C modified to work. I do have a plan for the cooling setup and have most the parts I need. As far as I know, there was never a model of the Sprinter made for America, but I think the Corolla GTS (RWD) is the closest thing to it, because most my parts came from this kind of car. About the distributor, will the one off the fuel injected 4A-GZE work. That's what I have and also what the head came off of. I can build everything else but the distributor so that is the most important thing. Thanks again for the help and please get back to me as soon as possible because I plan on starting my project over christmas break. Thanks
Oh, yeah. My Celica is a 1971 RA20. I have not seen this model on toymods yet but I think it's just the difference in the Australian models and the American models.

celicaman, there is no such thing as a center sump 4age - thay are all front. you will have to custom make it to suit your application

toby is right there is no center sump model of 4AGE! you'll have to fab/cut&shut a FWD/RWD one to suit - will also need to move the oil pickup back a bit too.
re: the 4AGZE dizzy no it won't work - you'll need a computer to drive it or get an ignition place to rig you up an old style dizzy to suit.....last time i checked one was $500AUD which is a bit of money...

ok here's the instructions:
You actually need two distributors, one from the 3A/4A, and one from the 3T or 4K-E.
The 3A/4A distributor is the one you'll end up using, but you have to gut it first, then install the "guts" from the 3T or 4K-E distributor. When you're done, you shoulld have a magnetic trigger mechanical advance distributor that will fit a 4A-G.
4k motor generally found in rwd starlets (one can be found at bill's place!!, otherwise no luck finding them in aus)
4afc (carb ae92 4af poverty-pack motor) should also have an electronic dizzy - you should be able to do the above mod on it too.
