my current corolla doesn't have power steering.
if i convert to a 4A-GE engine will it come with a powe steering pump and will i have to hook it up or can i just leave the pump or remove it? i don't really want assisted steering.
or does swapping the engine have no bearing at all on the steering?

depends on the engine, the early 4age's didnt have powersteer and the later ones did, doesnt matter witch engine u get u can leave the pump off on any of them keep the pump and lines tho, there worth alittle if u decide to leave it on and connect it, u will have to put a powersteer rack into the car, pretty easy to get, just might cost alittle

looking at 100w 4AGE or 20v - i'm taking a guess in thinking the power steering pump is run off the belt like the water pump, and if leave the pump off that going to need a shorter belt?

ummm im pretty sure it just runs off the water pump not the same belt as the one that runs off the crank for the water pump, if it does i have a one belt pully with smaller belt for a 4age sitting around somewhere i have a full ae82 seca 4age sitting here tvis 86km engine

the engine that came out of my car was a 4ac engine, little carby 1.6l, the 4age i have its out of the smashed seca i have (brought it for spare parts and rear disc conversion for my car) putting the 101 dash into my car was the worst part of the conversion, nothing lines up and had to cut tags out and weld new ones in, i wouldnt do it again, hehehe, with the ae92's i think u only have to change the instrument cluster due to the gze 101 engine uses duel igntion packs
the engine conversion was pretty simple, since im useing the lsd box i just had to cut the gearbox mount off the chassie and weld it onto mine, i have fitted all the 101 wiring, and accesories, i also fitted the ae82 twincam fuel tank, so i had a fuel pump and the main feed line due to it was bigger
still to come, i have a bigger supercharger for it and the oversize pully kit so i should be running 20pound boost, and the moment its 10, stantard on a cold night, 8-9 on a warm day

heh i know what the carby ones are like. got the 1.3L one in ae92.
i'm still trying to figure whether to buy a half cut or buy the engine with all the components with it (not in a chassis).
with the efi fuel tank, was reading something about a return fuel line? whats the deal with that?
agze sounds like heaps of fun - just can't stretch that far

Not sure if this was clarified but...
I have a 100kw 4AGE out of a 1992 AE92 GTi in my AE82. When I bought the engine, it had air con and power steering. I run neither now...
There are two belts that run off the crank.
One belt runs the water pump and alternator.
The other belt runs the air con and power steering (and also has an idler pulley for adjustment).
If you dont want to change to an assisted steering rack, its really easy to remove the power steering pump (like 4 bolts...).
If you want to keep the air con though, your gunna need a shorter belt. Its pretty easy to get a belt that fits though.
If you dont want or have air con or power steering, unbolt the lot and you'll only need the one belt for the water pump and alternator.
Hope this helps...
