i have an idea for the classifieds. not sure if it's been brought up here or not.
ausrotary forum has been using this for a while...it's a 'for sale template' you have to use this format to sell something, or put in a WTB, or your thread gets deleted.
here's a cut/paste of their rules..
Quote: | As of now, all new for sale posts MUST use the following template. This has been put in place to cut out the number of questions people must ask to get further information about an ad. This is extremely frustrating to both buyer and seller.
All ads MUST follow this style and formatting.
ALL ADS THAT DO NOT USE THE TEMPLATE WILL BE LOCKED OR DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
All fields are REQUIRED. You must fill them all in. For example, if you don't have photos, for example, say so, to avoid people asking. If you will only email photos, say so.
Please post in lower case only. No punctuation to draw attention to your post. All ads should be equally visible.
Please cut and paste the following template into your ad, ensuring you enter ALL of the required information.
***EDIT: Please note the tags in the template, such as , are required to make the words bolded. Please leave these tags in when you copy and edit the template. Thanks.***
FOR SALE TEMPLATE (wanted template can be found below)
************************
Subject Title: FS [specify item/items]
For sale: list items
Item Condition: describe in detail, be accurate and honest
Price and price conditions: self explanatory, if you are or are not willing to separate, you must specify
Extra Info: any other details you wish to mention
Pictures: if you cannot get pictures, please state to avoid people asking for it
Contact Details: PM, phone, email etc
Location: absolute must
Delivery & Conditions of Delivery: eg pickup only, courier interstate, no COD etc
************************
WANTED template
************************
Subject Title: WTB: [enter description]
Message Body:
Wanted: [enter items]
Extra Info: [any other details you wish to mention]
Contact Details: [PM, phone, email etc]
Location: [absolute must]
Delivery & Conditions of Delivery: [eg pickup only, courier interstate, no COD etc]
***********************
BB code has intentionally been disabled so you can copy bolded section as they are.
I suggest using the bold/unbold tags, as it is heaps clearer to read.
If you do not use this form, or neglect to fill out details such as location, your ad will be removed without warning.
There will be a 14 day grace period within which we will not delete posts, but please become accustomed to this new form in the interim. We will also use this 14 day period as a trial. If it is succesful, we will keep it going.
Thank you for your continuing cooperation and happy trading.

Yeah, that is a nice system
Remember though guys this current system only has to tide us over until the end of July (according to the current newsletter).
Not sure whether it woudl be worth implementing this before or after the move.

Thats a reasonably good idea but I'd really like to see the subject get a template before we consider a template for the posts... especially on the parts.
Having the vehicle model code, location and price in the subject would speed things up for a lot of people including myself. It will also mean people can search for their vehicle model code to find parts for their car!
e.g.
VehicleModelCode Item, Condition, Price. Suburb State (Shipping)
SW20 Stock Alternator, As New, $50. Baulkham Hills NSW (Will Post)
As opposed to the usual "Alternator for sale" type subjects.
