What is involved in installing JZX81 rotors/calipers to an MX83 Cressida?
Also, what kind of brake upgrade would work for the rear...I'd like to go from the small solids to a larger ventilated rotor, similar to the 30 series Soarers...Is there anything which will bolt on, and retain the OEM PCD/offset specs etc??

Any advice appreciated, including where to get the above bits.

Cheers.

PS. Does anyone here drive a nice MX83 down near the Gosford/Terrigal area with plates that begin and end in "J"? (I assume it is 1j-powered???) You would have seen our silver MX83 on Saturday near the Woy Woy turn-off...

O.K, maybe I should "break it down" (said in best rap voice...)

Has anyone on these forums (or does anybody know anybody know anyone who has) upgraded the brakes, including rotors/calipers on an MX83 Cressida?

If so, what did you/they use, where did you get it, how much hassle was it to change the parts, and how much did it all cost?

Surely, someone has done such an upgrade (esp. with the 1JZ/1UZ conversions going around...don't tell me you're all running stock brakes still??)

I was browsing through a jap website not long ago, and from what I can tell, JZX81 and MX83 brakes are about the same.

I think the site was www.club81.net - Just use a translator like the one on altavista. There was an article on converting the fronts to R32 GTSt Type M brakes, and the rear to JZX90.

Of course, I could be totally wrong about everything. It happened once.

I suspect you're on your own here, although any big brake kit designed for a Mk3 Supra will probably work on an MX83 since they have a similar chassis.
