They do stretch - this is part of the problem.
I would recommend new factory headbolts or some ARP jobbies. Remember to lube and use the little flat washers so you get the correct torque - vitally important if you don't want to join the "I hate 7MG-BHG" clan.

cheers guys, figured they did, useless standard crap..
i have already gone through 2 head gaskets on my old motor (not steel) and my nwe motor came with a standard gasktet
they put in cams, upgraded fuel system and turbo but didnt put in a steel gasket...wankers
