calder park drift practice Thu, 07 July 2005 02:00 Go to next message
asking for a friend who just bought a fully sick d0rift0 180sx...

whats involved in the calder park drift practices? day of week? time? anything specific scrutineers are looking for? cost? structure (staggered start, 2 at a time)? how long the session goes for? where is the coolest place to attach the punched cat sticker?

cheers
evan

Wednesday nights, about once a month (check fulllock.com for dates) at Calder park. Track is open from 6 til about 930 then they run a little top 8 comp 930-10. Be there beforehand to get scrutineered before 6.

Scrutineering is not super harsh. Brake lights must work, nothing loose in car, battery bolted down, nothing leaking too much oil/water. SOmetimes socks on PS resevoir and metal valve caps.

Costs $80 to drive $10 to spectate. Attach the sticker to any drift damage or if there is none then attach on the windscreen directly in front of driver until drift damage occurs.

Night consists of basically a free for all through most of the night. They line you up at a certain point and let you go about 20secs apart. Do a lap and return to the back of the queue. You get PLENTY of track time.

[EDIT - Also need wrist to ankle non-synthetic clothing and a helmet, though you can hire a helmet there for $20 if you forget to pack one]

Give it a try yourself in that RA28.

Hen

70 entries Shocked the ones in nsw are capped at like 40 and most nights you are lucky to see 15-25 cars. Worst turnout was like 8 the same cars circulating for the whole night.

They no longer accept pre-entries because they have never hit the limit. You just turn up and pay at the gate.

And no matter how gutless the RA28 is it could drift. You'd just have to hit the corners faster.
