I found a Toyota Chaser, Late 93 model, 2.5 litre twin turbo, Auto, sunroof, woodgrain, after market exhaust, but it is uncomplied.
How much would it cost to get it complied?

well,it's not on the SEVS list...
http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/sevsindex.htm
Quote: | Under the new laws:
vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1989 may be imported without restriction;
vehicles built during 1989 (or later) that meet the specialist and enthusiast vehicle criteria will need to qualify under RAWS as meeting the Australian Design Rules that applied at the date of manufacture
|
so who is going to comply it? you cannot do it under RAWS/SEVS as it is not on the list... only way woule be to have gained PRIOR import approval as a personal import before it arrived, or to be complied under LVCS before the rules changed..
basically you need to ship it and live with it in another country for 12 months IF that country will comply it/register it... so how do you like new zealand?

Quote: | A significant feature of the new regulations is a ban on certification of damaged and/or rusted vehicles, except as a source of spare parts. This is a move that Craig Dean of Sports and Luxury Cars - the first business to receive compliance approval under RAWS - believes will ultimately benefit consumers. "The standard of cars being imported will generally be higher than under the old system and it will be much harder for the back-yard importers to sell poor-quality cars," Dean said. "Compliance costs which have increased by up to $3000 per car will initially push prices up but our experience even under Low Volume was that buyers were prepared to pay a little more for a quality product.""

Won't get it into NZ, doesn't meet the post 96 frontal impact laws.
