an air compressor used liberally will speed up the drying out process ...

it will not cause any real damage, just make sure it is all removed or dried out before you attempt to run the motor in the car.

I wouldn't recommend just letting it evaporate, it'd probably rust the bores if it got inside one of the cylinders (theoretically one of the valves has to be open)
Depending on how much water got in, turn the motor upside down first, let whatever rained in, slip out.
Compressed air in a spark plug hole sounds good, you'll find which one has water in it pretty easily.
After that I'd suggest spraying WD40 liberally into the bore with water to disperse it.
Then before you start the motor, put a small squirt (just a couple of drops) into each bore 30mins before you crank her over.

Should get rid of all rust and water no worries. (remember some people run around with cars with blown head gaskets with small amounts of water in the bores for weeks!)

My 2 cents Smile
