hks t3g turbos for 1jz (need info plz) Thu, 07 July 2005 13:02 Go to next message
I'm seriously considering purchasing a pair of these turbos (hks t3g) for my 1jz. They come with custom manifolds and dumps (they are for sale in the relevant section of this site).

I just have a few questions I was hoping someone here could answer for me before dropping this kinda folding on the setup and before i get flamed i've searched this site for answers to these questions and have some answers to some questions but I just want it to be crystal clear as Im looking n investing a sizable amount of money in my supra (MA70 turned jza70 for those interested).

Do the hks t3g's fit on the standard manifold? The kit comes with custom manifolds, I was just wondering if this was purely for better performance or whether it was neccesary to fit them to the 1jz?

I'm aware that with the correct mods these turbo's are easily capable of making 300 kw at the wheels on a 1jz. Im told the gcg hybrids are also capable of making this power on standard manifolds. Does anybody know how much the gcg turbo's cost (when supplying standard 1j turbo's as a base)? I'm guessing the hks turbos on custom manifolds would be capable of producing more top end power than the hybrids but the hybrids would have better response and less lag, is this correct?

To make 300 kw at wheels i would obviously need the following, fuel pump, injectors, fmic, ecu w/boost control. Am i missing anything apart from pods, BOV, zorst etc?

My last question is what sort of power can be made by simply putting steel wheels in the standard turbo's and also hi-flowing standard turbos (non ball bearing but with steel wheels)?
If doing this I'd fit custom dump pipes and have the above mods.

Thanks for your help guys, it's much appreciated.
