its looking like ive got the dreaded bhg, im getting a compression test done tommorow...

im thinking of getting a 7mgte + computer + loom... what would be involved in getting it all working, im just about sure the engine should physically fit into the cressida, its just the wiring.

ill also probably get a new hg from toyota and re torquing it to a higher setting.

can it keep the same transmission too?

any other things i should watch out for?

What cressi have you got MX73 or MX83?? either way both had M engines in them and the 7MGTE will bolt straight in.

Getting it all working is a hard question. Espically when it comes to fuel system. You could bolt it all in and run standard 5MGE/7MGE fuel pump and no real issues, you would need to get a better fuel pump if you wanted to start running big boost etc.

As for wiring that is basically your biggest prob, talk to ppl like side show or an auto elec about getting it wired in.

The stardard gear box will bolt up its just a matter of power, I'm not sure on the differences if any between turbo and non turbo boxes, however I suspect toyota being toyota the standard box would be able to put up with the power of standardish 7MGTE.

If you wanted to build the motor so you wouldn't have to worry about more BHG's I would get a metal gasket and get some ARP studs. It will be set and forget with no more issues.

Other things to watch will just be little things, things possible not fitting in the engine bay the3y way the used to, due to turbo, different inlet's just small stuff which is easy to over come.
