Gang's web of evil

AUTHORITIES are investigating a website on which thugs boast of murder, drug dealing and violent assaults.
The Westside Turks website, which claims to have up to 120 gang members, boasts of beating up "skips" (caucasian Australians), stabbing people at Melbourne nightclubs, attacking rival gangs with machetes and bashing a truckie with a baseball bat.
The site also carries claims that drug money was used to enrol relatives from Turkey at Australian universities.
Several Westside Turks have already been charged and prosecuted based on information gleaned from the website which details a crimewave dating back to February last year.
The gang leader, "Ali", is understood to be behind bars, serving 12 years for attempted murder. He shot his girlfriend and best friend because he thought they were having an affair.
The Westside Turks website claims that before the trial, the thug had instructed other gang members to "fix up" his girlfriend and best friend.
"Taner smashed down the front door (and) the boys walked in on them having dinner," the website said.
"The boys took their guns out and sat down on the table, had some food and started talking business. They told them that they must deny that Ali shot them or that they are gonna (sic) get killed."
The girlfriend subsequently testified that her former boyfriend, an underworld figure, had shot her. The gangland figure was killed last year in Melbourne's underworld war.
Another gang member appeared at a committal hearing in Melbourne Magistrates Court last week charged with murder and attempted murder. Police allege a victim was stabbed three times with a 20-centimetre knife as he intervened in an argument between his cousin and the accused at a nightclub.
The Westside Turks website said that the accused attacked the man for talking to his girlfriend.
Other incidents listed on the website include:
A BASHING at a Chapel Street nightclub.
A BEATING in a supermarket carpark.
SHOOTING at a car that beat a member's car in a drag race.
BASHING a security guard who followed the gang, and a woman who rejected a gang member's advances.
THE jailing of a gang member as a result of confessional evidence on the website.
It is understood the site is known to police.
