unbelievable. These pistons are worth thousands...
You can also tell they are good pistons as the skirt doesn't extend all the way around - this reduces the drag and you make more power.
Mahle make the pistons for the TRD Formula Atlantic 4A-GE. They are probably the best pistons in the world.
here's a clip from the website:
In the 2005 Formula 1 season, the top class of motorsports, MAHLE supplied pistons and engine components for six of the ten teams, including important parts of world champion Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari engine. During the 2004 season, 16 of 18 Grand Prix races were won with MAHLE pistons and engine components.
Le Mans – an extreme endurance test for man and machine. For 13 years in a row, the winners of the best known long-distance race in the world have crossed the finish line powered by pistons and NIKASILŪ-coated cylinder crankcase from MAHLE. And also with other great motorsports events – from Rally World Championships through IRL and NASCAR races in the USA to truck racing – regardless of who wins, MAHLE always wins.

Pics to michael.bachmann@gm.com
Can you use a pair of vernier calipers ?
The size is important as you would of course know. Any markings on the pistions that might indicate a part number etc (apart from the 82.94 ?

im fairy shure you can be confident of them being 82.94mm that gives you a .06mm piston to wall clearence on standard bore.
you would want to be shure your bores are tip top or you would have to sleave all 6 cyls

That is the only thing that has stopped me from snapping up a pair.
Links to the appropriate TRSM pages that show the bore specs and allowances. Note that there are 5 sizes of cyl block/pistion diameters, and the block/pistons are marked accordingly.

but then again, why do they only sell one type of 7mge/gte rings? i dunno whether those sizes are worth worrying about?

Define "they". Toyota would probably ask what mark your block is to sell you the appropriate parts if you want to replace teh std bore pistons.
More than likely as you have to match the bore with the pistons.
If you read carefully, the sizes aren't that much different, and one of the main factors is the "oil clearance".
(EDIT)If they are 82.94mm dia, then they are the same as 7M-GTE Mark 2 (and 7M-GE Mark 3).
Whatever block you have,, as long as the oil clearance is between 0.07 - 0.09mm for the 7M-GTE, and 0.08 - 0.10mm for the 7M-GE, then you'll be fine.
Interesting to note that the gap is smaller for the GTE !!
