icon4.gif  WTD: xA61 front parts... Mon, 11 July 2005 03:55 Go to next message
on my search for front end parts - now only need the front bumper for my Supra to get it back on the road.
Aus spec 84-85 I think is pretty similar to my Jap spec 83. The one with the wrap around indicators (as seen below)

willing to pay good money and willing to bring in from other states.. so if anyone knows a wrecker that has one - please let me know.

cheers people

nah man.. I don't have flares..
its a black strip that goes along the edge of the wheel arch. Its actually comes seperate to the guard, but mine was mangled beyond straightening in the accident.
I'm wondering if one off a RA60 might fit? ..
Just have to go check out a couple of wreckers.. again..

I've had a look at a couple of RA60's around my area.. they don't look like they came with that strip of moulding that I'm chasing.. which makes things even more difficult. *sigh*

I threw one out last week....

One side was genuine, the other side was a stuck on black strip (self adhesive backing). Just get something like that.

I never knew until I pull it off.

If you went to get a new genuine one, they would be adhesive backed, they learnt the error of their ways when they updated them.

got the moulding sorted.
got the car back from the panel shop

but the most annoying thing ever.. the guys at the panel shop LOST a small section of my front air dam. Mad

The small section is bewteen the front bumper and bolts onto the bottom of the front guard.. you can kinda see it in the pic I originally posted.
Its only a small section - but makes a heck of a difference! especially when its not there.

The panel shop said they would pay and paint for the new one (obviously).. so start searching people!
Its the passenger side - as shown below..

cheers for your help

Damo,

If the panel shop lost a paart that you supplied, then surely it is their responsibility to track one down for you at their time and cost.

I would be putting this one back on them and take some stress out of your life.

In the mean time, I will have a look and see if I can get one out of Japan for you as I have a contact over there in TOYOTA.

hey man..
yeah - the panel shop has said they will pay for the replacement and paint and fit it..
but they wouldn't be able to find their nose on their own face! let alone a part for a 20 yr old japanses import!! Confused

thats why I've done all the searching..
plus I don't want no bodgy "that will do" job/part.. hence, I'd rather find the bits myself anyway.
No one knows my car better than me - I know they way it was, and the way its meant to be.. I won't accept no less.. na'mean?!

I appreciate your help tho.

your friend in Japan may even be able to take a cruise past a wreckers where he will prolly find 20 of these cars!! Razz

keep me posted

Stark still hasn't come through with this bit as yet.
I really want a replacement part before Motorvation 06 which is only a couple of months away.

Dean - can you hassle him on my behalf.
Peewee - thanks for the continous hassle too..

Anyone else - if you have this doodah, please let me know. I only need to borrow it to get a replacement made...

have you considered cutting the front edge off a flare?
they might be easier to find than that piece.
