Timing in re: to Turbo application Mon, 11 July 2005 05:39 Go to next message
I have gathered from my readings that fuel in relation to a turbo setup is essentially boost referenced. ie increase in boost pressure will trigger a corresponding increase in fuel pressure, wethere via a ECU or boost referenced fuel pressure regulator as in a blow thru carby setup.

This much I understand.

But in regards to timing what happens here?

Does the timing increase with boost pressure like fuel or does it stay static or reduce?

The main reason is because i'm looking at converting my 18rgu to efi then turboing it. If i put in a standalone electronic distributor for the efi conversion i'm wondering if i then will need to change it to hook up with a ECU?

Thanks all.

Nathan

It reduces...

In a turbo application, it's alot easier to insight pinging from having timing advanced too far
