Battery in boot info

After fitting four million batteries in cabin for my work, I finally got a complaint from a customer so I decided to get the official info from the RTA.
Guess what!!!! There is nothing in the Code of Practice about batteries being mounted in the boot or in cabin!!! What this means is all them engineers out there saying you need this and that crap and sealed boxes and crap, its all bullshit. So the next time some engineer knocks you back, tell him to get fucked and check the code of practice.
In reporting this, I would still use a sealed box and vent it out side.
Oh and the above information is for QLD only. Possibly the same elsewhere, but I don't care!

The battery was mounted under a seat and they bitched because the vent hose wasnt big enough.

edited for stupidity

Draven, can you tell me where can i get a copy of these guidelines? I'll be needing to do this soon to fit my IC piping in but would like to do some background research. Cheers.

erm, rta website somehwere - I don't have the link anymore. basically it must be in a sealed box, vented to atmo. I don't think it mentions anything about how secure it must be, but no engineer will pass it unless it is mounted securely enough to withstand an accident (to avoid a 10kg lead acid bomb bouncing around your cabin)

Try to get a battery to suit a BMW or Merc which have the battery inside the cabin or boot standard. They have sealed caps and built in vents.

buy them from the RTA head office near central station. when i got mine they were $50 (was a few years ago tho)
as far as the guidelines go, there is no distinction drawn between fully sealed and unsealed batteries .. regardless of if an engineer passes it, it's still a grey area (unless of course, you get it in writing from the RTA ... ie keep asking until someone does )
