Removing 200km/h speed cut on Australian 7mgte Supra
|

I just found out I have a 200km/h speed cut!!!
Any ideas on how to get rid of it without buying a speed cut defender? (Do they work on an Aussie ECU? - not 180km/h like JDM)
Also... I can't set my cruise control to higher than 108km/h!! IT's really annoying on roads with a 110km/h limit. Any ideas on how to get rid of that limit?
cheers!

Aus-spec Supras definitely don't have a 200km/h limiter. I have 3 friends with these cars and they have all well and truly exceeded that speed without any problems. It must be something else - maybe you're hitting boost cut?

Argh! I want one of those boards!!!
Sounds like you have an import on your hands there buddy, no aus del. supras (that I'm aware of) came with digi dash's
Mine stops @ 180km's the doors lock @ 25km's and my cruise control is the same, its freakin gay! I can only set it at 105, then using the cruise control I can speed it up to 108km's and set it there... Bloody annoying...
If anyone has a fix for the cruise control and the speed limiter, please speak now!!!

its a riceboy product that is similiar to a gtech but hooks up to your ecu instead. it tells you 0-100km/h, 0-200km/h, 0-300km/h, and terminal speed for the standing 400metres. its also a trip metre, tacho and speedo, also allows jap cars to disable the speed limiter

That's pretty sucky with the doors locking at 25km/h. I for one like to do a commando roll out of the car when it's doing 50.

Hi (me newbie),
I have a Jap 7M-GTE supra with a 180km/h speed limiter, 110km/h cruise limiter which I was hoping to remove somehow cheaply as well.
I found out I had the limiter at my first track day at Sandown, I and I can't say I was surprised since its an import, but I would really like to get rid of it before March (Winton sprint) without having to spend too much.
The only way I have seen so far is by installing the powerchip, which they said they could remove the limiter when the chip was installed. Its a bit expensive though, at $890, for an increase of ~30kW. Espescially since they raise the boost by 2psi to get that extra power!
The speed limiter was not removed as per standard, so they must muck around with the ECU or something to disable it... now I want to know how!

Guys I had the same type of problem with my TT Soarer, when I Competed the Grand Prix Rally. Had the chance to wind her out to 240 on an airport runway but the little bitch just stopped at 180 in fourth. As for a fix I will recomend http://www.kamikazemotors.com/ as they did they did the work removing both speed limiter and the cruise limiter on my 92 soarer. I'm not sure if its the same for a Supra but the cruise limited was dissabled in 30min for $40, I'll let you decide if it's worth it (but its great setting the cruise on 120 on the open road). AS for the speed limiter I had them install an A'pexi RSM, that cost just under $400, if your planning to use it on a racetrack then get out there and do it. On the other had if you have plans to do this on the road, please stay the hell away from me.

Apparently the locking doors at 25km/h is done because people regularly forget to lock their doors in Japan.

the AW11 has a speed sensor thingie in the speedometer, it can be moved/bent out of the way to disable the 195km/h speed cut the 4agze ECU has.
the Supra doesnt have anything simular in the dash around the speedo? a wiring diagram would/should show it.

Did you just make that up ??
It is actually an anti-hijack system so that people cant hijack or get into it whilst you are stopped in traffic ect.
