I was just wondering if a ke55 5 speed box that was fitted in a ke30 corolla would fit into my 1968 ke10 without too many hassles (Eg: Tailshaft mods, bellhousing mods). Does anyone know if the 5 speed is physically longer or wider than the 4 speed? Im getting this box shipped from perth so any info would be appreciated.

if you have auto KE10, the shifter will almost come out the hole. if you have a manual KE10, you will have to cut a new hole for the shifter.
the 5 speed box is almost identical to the 4 speed in outside dimensions and indeed uses an almost identical front case. the extension houing is different (to house the 5th gear), but you'll be hapy to know than you can directly bolt on the KE55 extension housing onto an 5 speed KE70 gearbox also...
KE70 has different rear mount tho, but KE55 will bolt up at the back..
as for tailshaft, if you have auto, it's different and you need to swap a KE30/55 front yoke on..
if by the slim chance you have a borg warner diff and the large uni tailshaft, it's more tricky..
oh and clutch between K and 3K/4K is different, ie differnt diamter and different input spline.. if you can (and have't already) swap to a 3K/4K clutch and flywheel.. this will give you the correct pressure plate.
there's a start...
