CLG's 1994 ST205 Celica GT4 Group A Rallye (56K - it's worth it!)

Well, it's been a monumentous night as I type this edited update on the car - I finally got it on the road today, used it tonight, and then ran into the reason my recent discontent tonight - the Ex!!! She looked terrible - it was fantastic! Any way back to the car, I promised to give a list of bits and pieces on it once it was complete and running so here it is:
Standard ST205 Driveline with 75 000Kms on it (just had it "100 000"Km service done too before installation) bar-
Heavy duty clutch of unknown origin (came with the halfcut) - quite heavy, and I'm itching to get it on the track to find out how good it is!
Custom built Dump pipe, coated in the "Extrme" HPC coating - flows really well, I've fixed the boost spiking issues, and it's now a pleasure to drive. This feeds into a mandrel bent 3" Exhaust system with a hi flowed cat by "Reo" and a single straight through muffler out the back. I added a bit of wank to it with a 4" droopy tip also.
Tein front Springs and shocks - I like them, but the wheel and tyre package on the car at the moment don't do it any favours.
Unknown rear shocks with King Springs out the back, along with a Cusco rear Strut Bar. Everything seems OK here too, though I haven't pushed it hard yet, as the whole package is still being trialled.
18x8" Zepters with 225/35/18 Nankangs - I hate them, not enought sidewall and the tyres need to be wider to protect the rims realistically, if I could sell them off, I would happily do so! Aside from my limitations with tyre size, I haven't pushed them hard yet, so won't comment on their performance.
A few more little jobs to do, but it's now seriously up for sale, so start saving - it's not cheap!.

Mmmmm, yum yum.... I like the ST205's. Wish I knew why.. hehehe...
This (being a 94 model) would be one of the first ST205's manufactured right?

Not when you consider I have another GT4 already sitting in the shed! As for the car's history - I can't find two stories that ring true about it, but yes, it is one of the 77 originals brought in by Toyota in 1994, and in regards to SCHAWIIINNNGGGG quality - yes Heather Lockyear would look hot sitting in it, but Monica Bellucci, or Catherine Bell would look hotter!
Stitt, yeah bro, it got the fooooooooly sic hectic turboss bro, also has the factory fitted sneeze valve but no trumpet to the outside world so it's pretty quiet (wait till the new exhasut goes on it!).

It's a car that was previously advertised here by a former owner for $45 000, reported to have 180awkw, and to have been in very good condition - I'm finding otherwise, and spending accordingly to bring it back to what it should be. While I appreciate the reputation of this particular car, I'm not interested in the slanging match that will follow if I was to list all the problems with it. Needless to say, when it is put up for sale again, it will be up to my standard of build, and sale condition expected.

Well the dump pipe is 90% complete - but more importantly - in a condition thats usable. I still need to send it off to be sand blasted and HPC coated, but I want the car regoed and running for the weekend, so that will happen next week!

Well it was running - but it's now dead - electrical gremlins. The dump pipe flows really well - I hit boost cut at about 4000rpm - will have to sort it all out, and "smooth" the whole system out, it's too agressive at the moment.

Lady luck hasn't really smiled down on you and this project recently, i was there for what turned out to be a pretty average day for you (i have a photo), and im almost sure you'e probably had worse.
But keep in there, because from what ive seen you've come along way in a short amount of time. I also think that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't too far away, so hang in there solider!
This is going to be a mighty impressive car when finished.

That's a sick car and im in no way taking anything away from it, but i hope you didn't pay anywhere near that for it. For $45,000 you'd want Carlos himself to have driven it!

Well, the dump pipe is in pieces again - an effort to get a better flow out of the wastegate has brought forward a problem inherent in the standard wastegate setup. The standard set up pivots from the bottom, which directs flow up and over the flap - with both the standard and my custom dumppipe, this resulted in the wastegate gases trying to pass through a passage approximately 1/2" in depth. To increase this space, I've ground out the wastegate runner and will be adding more pipe to "balloon" out the top of the wastegate runner. I'm at a loss as to how all the "proven" aftermarket dumps get around this - I'd suggest they don't and their resulting restictiveness, is the real reason they "flow so much better and produce better power" - the wastegate is open and working, but not effectively, thats for sure!!!
