OK here is the big question
Which one do i buy?
I think the xbox is better tech but gt3 only comes in ps2 flavour!
What does everyone else own/think?

Okay Helmann, here's the deal:
PS2!
They are the bomb. Yes, Xbox is a better console, more powerful, better graphics, yadda, yadda. But here's something, more games come out on PS2. I know this from working in the entertainment section of Target and I see the upcoming releases lists.
Plus, you can modify the PS2. It isn't cheap ($300 or so) but when you can pay five or six bucks a game, it adds a huge saving!
Consider this too. Many games come out for PS2 and Xbox. Despite the Xbox being better, the game engine is built to run on a PS2 as well, so a game will only ever take full advantage of the Xbox in an Xbox exclusive title. And PS2 is DVD ready, Xbox you have to buy the remote and chip.

Buy both.
Do not try to compare the consoles, it is a waste of time. If there is a game you really must have (like GT3), go buy a PS2. When a game comes out that is only on an X-Box that you really must have, go buy the X-Box.
I bought my PS2 solely for GT3, and as yet have found no 'must have' games on the X-Box. People rave about Halo, but I am a car driving fanatic so the PS2 has enough to keep me going. BTW If you like GT3, take a look at V8 Supercars Australia. Very nice.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

I have an XBOX - kicks butt!
Halo is way cool, also played Project Gotham on it and that is really good too! The graphics and speed is pretty amazing!
The guys are right - there are more games on PS2 but the Xbox is catching up!

Get the PS2 ...
XBox only has HALO to boast about but the PSX2 and Gamecube software titles leaves it for dead. Nuff said. Afterall, you get the DVD as well and it's the games that count, not the specs.

XBOX = Microsoft = EVIL
PS2 ... Sony has the experience i my opinion.
Plus you can play all the old PS games/use most old controllers and guns etc. Isnt the size of 4 house bricks.
Looks better.
Who would go past SONY.

phh, x- box all the way.
In Sega GT, you can race a Celica Ta22 GT, thats something you can't do wiht GT3.
As for Microsoft being evil, Bill Gates will rule the world one day, so why fight it.
PS2 has more games coz playstation has been around for many years, all be it PS1 or the PS2. X-box is completely new and catching up fast to sony.
Funny thing is sony used crappy teac DVD drives in there PS2's, and X-box used the better sony drives??

i got a ps2 and i gotta say. if you love granturismo.. then you know what todo 
it's abit like the ps1 and n64 battle. n64 had more power, way better graphics and technicaly a better machine. it had the still had fun factor of the old nintendo. but nintendo is getting olllllllllld. i bet everyone had owned super mario and that duck shooting game before 
what im saying is the consoles family die over the time. like the nes, got better with the snes, then the n64. ps, ps2.
there's to many machines outdoing eachother and you tend to grow up (better gets boring.. the superior product is not what everyone can touch)
but i'd say grab the console which has a better deal (eg w/ games, accessories)

mod chipping is his whole business
new xbox chip soon to be released will be able to play PS2 games
current chip u can copy the whole game to the HDD, NO CD NEEDED, just rent and take back, 5-15 games on the std HDD,{8gb} can be upgraded to 120gb, can store movies {like a std comp}mp3's emulators for NES SNES N64 Sega Mega drive ect,
hook up a mouse and keyboard via USB and it will blow away a P4 2.8, has a linux OS, can play burned PS1/2 burned DVD, u can also d'load PS2 games off the net less the movies ect so they fit on a std. 700mb CD, this will play them too

I would watch what you get from that blade place! I dont remember their webpage at them moment, but they do some crap work! A friend of mine sent a PSOne to them and they fried it! They sent it back not working saying that it was faulty when they got it! I pulled it apart and found that there was big solder blobs shorting various IC pins togeather!
I called these people up and they knew they did wrong and they kept changing their story saying they had never opened it, then I mentioned the solder blobs and they said that they had fitted the chip but the bios in the PSX wasn't suported at the time! But the PSOne was working when it was sent back(so they reckon).
Anyway after a whole lot of bitching they did replace it with a second hand unit!

Seriously you have to own Halo to know how damned good it is.
If you really hate Microsoft then buy an XBox and chip it, every time someone purchases an XBox MS are losing money... The hardware included in the XBox are worth at least $700.
The other thing is the XBox has only been out since around April whereas the PS2 has been around for ages, I remember when the PS2 came out it only had a couple of games, XBox already has over 100 which is pretty good. Plus who wouldn't want to drive the ST185 in Sega GT2002.
The fact that the remote control/dvd playback kit needs to be purchased to play DVD on the XBox is irrelevant, who wouldn't buy the remote for either system anyway, and, if you get bored of the XBox it runs fairly standard hardware and there are already fairly simple mods to allow you to turn the XBox into a simple PC or Linux box. So whack the penguin on the XBox and screw MS over ( :

Yo dudes!! You want cool cars in racing games??!! well Take a look at DRAGSTARS on the PSX, it is the shittiest game I have ever seen but there is a RA28 celica in it!! They call it a TA22 but, what's in a name!!
ON another note, PC's are thge best for games but if you are too lazy to boot the fucker up all the time, PS2 is the best, SONY whipped Nintendo even though they had all the experience in the games market to that point, it's all about signing up developers, go with whover has the best developers behind them.
Or, go with who ever makes the best Wipeout 2097 clone, fuck me that game was good....nothing like hookin' round the track in the pirhana at warp 9 all day!!
