get some glass polish and give it a go...
Will only work on really light scratches though...

RainX being a polymer sealant of sorts will fill in some light scratches and very light chips.
You need to reapply it fairly regularly though.

This is a long shot. But toothpaste is a great scratch remover. It has a mild abrasiveness (for cleaning teeth) and leaves a perfect glass finish. Might be going too far using it on a whole windscreen, but it worked wonders for my headlights. And also my PSP screen. (oh and scratched cd's)

May sound a little crazy, but if you have comprehensive insurance it may be worth to check your policy out. As part of my insurance I get 1 free windscreen every year without affecting my premium. Maybe you can exploit this a little?

You could try Novus.
My previous car had a bad scratch. They couldn't make it perfect but they improved it a lot. If the scratches are minor, I'd expect good results.
Cost about $100 four years ago.

I'm with this suggestion -- my last 2 insurance companies have said I can get a free windscreen a year with my policy. Gotta be good for something since I pay so much
