Are you thinking of a group buy?
Will this include the actual Gearbox Housing, or will we have to supply our own?
I prolly cant afford 4500 on a box though, so i probably shouldnt even be posting this

Oh my gosh! I would love a dog box for my AE86. Oh man I just need the time to get the money together. I need to do other things first, like pay bills and make sure I have money for my home loan.
When are you planning to go ahead with this? If it is in about 6-9 months I will probably be in.

A dog box is a gear box with straight cut gears.

Yeah I know it seems a bit steep.
A guy I know off, paid a bit over $2000 for cross cut gears for 1st and 2nd gear in his wrx.
This is for all five gears, so it seems about right.

sorry gtv ae86.
Actually a dog box refers to dog engagement system for meshing gears instead of using a conventional syncromesh and hub to select them. not straigh cut gears. This enables faster selection and (if your good enough) all up and down selection without using a clutch.(that's what your seeing when V8 supercars drivers are jamming it through gears.) This is all good in a race type application but VERY difficult to just drive around town with as all gear selections need to be fast, firm, direct and timed perfect with engine revs, otherwise you will start knocking the corners off the dog teeth and then they wont select or jump out of gear!

Oh ok. I was wrong, I thought they were straight cut, with a dog selector.
