Nearly all ECU's have a rev limiter, 7M included. The difference is that some don't really need one (e.g. commodore V6) because the engine wheezes that much that it will never actually FIND the limit, whereas something a little nicer to drive may well do so regularly, therefore needs a limiter to stop ham fisted idiots like me constantly busting engines.

try driving a manual comodore, I spend half my time getting to the rev limiter and the other half of the time coming off it.
my brother didnt let me drive that car again

best way to find where the limiter is is to hit it. it is there for a reason so why not use it

well, thanks guys... i do know WHY it has a limiter in place, and fyi not all ecu's run them, esp autos.
question remains, WHAT is the limit? i have an engine on a stand, and if im designing a cam to work with the engine, i dont exactly want it to come on cam 200rpm into the red, and find the ecu kills the action....

Hey Ed, PM mx83toy, he used to hit cut out all the time.
You may be forced to use a chip to put the rpm cut up higher in the range, short of coercing Nishad to program you a new chip.
