Hi all,
I have an MA70 which im told has a clutch type LSD. Heaps of people seem to have or are fitting the torsen LSD's. My MA70 is currently having a 1jz installed into it.
I just want to know what the actual difference is between the torsen lsd and clutch type lsd. Are the torsen diffs a lot better? Would it be worth the money installing one into my car? (Im installing HKS T3G's and will be making around 300KW) The car will be street driven but also used for circuit racing and the odd trip to the drag strip. Thanks.
PS: Ive already searched so dont just tell me to search. If ya know the answer you could just type in instead of writing: use the search function...

clutchtype have preload, torsen type don't
torsen is more progressive and smooth, and should wear less, making it more consistent... the only downside is that if one wheel actually lifts off the ground, you may loose some drive.
cos of the way it works, but wheels need some resistance for the torsen to work, and push power to the wheel that is not slipping, but no resistance means no transfer.
the other big benefit is that when you are not accelerating, the diff is almost like a fully open diff, so no wheel hopping you get with a tight cluthc pack LSD...
just google for torsen diff and you will find heaps of info.
