Most 1st gen celica owners dont have small penies like the other various model owners. This is why we dont need a dedicated thread!

Hi,
Well, there's been a couple of TA22 GT threads, and some nice 1st gens pop up occasionally in the Member's Rides.
1st gens are, without a doubt, the best Celicas ever made.

1973 GT celica, has a 13B extend port turbo, fmic, microtech mtx8 and 2.5in exhaust. Been tubbed, and a rollcage. has fresh rebuild with about 50 ks on the motor atm. has an exhaust leak at the turbo which il fix one day. Shame to see one of few GTs go like this....

Hi,
Squid, that's okay mate to disagree... it's a personal choice and everyone has their own tastes. Besides, take heart, you got the next best Celica after a 1st gen!
Rather than fill this thread with my pics, go and check out the following link to see my 1st gen (ie pre RA28) JDM GT liftback.
http://www.classic-celica.com/modules.php?set_albu mName=1973-JDM-RA25GT&op=modload&name=gall ery&file=index&include=view_album.php
In regards to the tubbed-rotor GT TA22... damn shame it's been hacked over like that. IIRC that particular GT was one of the very few (about 6 or so) GT's that were officially released into Australia by Toyota all those years ago. It would be a long and expensive restoration, but considering it's history, rarity and collectability, it'd be a worthwhile project.

Anymore old celicas turn up at SFX?
...just keep finding it weird that 3 TA22s and an RA23 turn up in the space of a year at 1 school.

So is the RA28 considered 1st or 2nd gen Shane? Is it on the cusp of the changeover, so to speak?
Cheers, Greg.

Yeah Farky-babes, it's a 1st gen. I put in the "pre-RA28" to highlight to those that are not in the know that it wasn't the first liftback Celica model. There's a lot of ppl who think the RA28 was the 1st liftback model.
In regards to 1st gen... I was in a discussion the other day about this, and in my opinion, the TA23/RA23/RA28/RA29/RA35 could be called 2nd gen. Even though they're "A type models", as per earlier Celicas, they have a different chassis. However, most ppl regard these models as 1st gen... as old school.. as classics, and who am I to argue.
Also, anyone with an RA20,RA21,TA27,RA29 or RA35 could also post in this thread with their 1st gen beast.

The RA-40 is generally known as 2nd Generation.
The TA22,RA20-21 RA25, TA27 fall in to the 1st Generation
The TA23, RA23, RA28-29, RA35 are between generations. Most people refer to them as 1 Gen due to the shape however I have seen them noted as Gen 1 1/2.
