3TGTEU is a hating bitch, a question. Have I cooked my ECU? Tue, 19 July 2005 06:51 Go to next message
Err yeah, it is hating at the moment. I'm not an expert auto leccy but I thought I had it pretty well sussed from the instructions I got from the guys who put it in their car before I got it.

Any way I had attempted to wire it up and have run into a hitch or two, removed the harness/loom and am now in the process of tracing everything wiry back. I did get two instances when I got some shorts, very quickly cut the ignition (Engine just farts and shits, turns over but don't really run) and one wire got replaced. It's the middle top one to the circuit open relay.

How easy is it to cook the ECU? I'm pretty sure I was not getting power to it any way. I'm just morbidly curious.

NB,
I have searched this as best I can.

god it has a computer!i thought the 3t cam out in cars that used candles in there headlights!lmao ok getting serious, can fry the ecu but look at fuses and fuseable links first. open up the puter and look and smell to see if there is anything obvious. if you can find anything make sure the wiring is exactly as it should be and borrow or buy one, just make doubly sure you dont fry a secound one.wether you fried it depends on which wires you shorted.if you remebber which ones trace them out and see what they do and work from the by testing the wires that shorted with multimeter on resistance with one cable of the multi on the start of the wire and one at the puter end of the cable!

Hmm maybe i should have replaced the candles in the lanterns attached to the side of the carriage lol. It might not have shorted! Sure does scare the horses when I drive by hahaha.

Thanks for the response mate. I actually thought I had cooked the circuit open relay cos it smells funny but I'm pretty sure it's ok upon inspection of it without the cover on it. Will have a suss of the ECU tonite. Tempted to just piss it off and install a Microtech or Wolf. Forgot to mention it's the stockie.

Cheers
