Hi all, I've just been chasing diff centres for my 23 can't seem to find one anywhere, closest i can get is a RA40. was wondering if they where the same centre or not? Also wondering if there was a difference in ratio between auto and manual? Contemplating complete swap I.E:Hilux\Corona Which is easiest? Thanx for your help

I went hilux. Heavy as hell (relative) but you won't break it unless your using a nitro glycerine fuelled twin supercharged V12 or something. You'll break other stuff first (as I've found).
Really does bring a new meaning to "Unbreakable"

RA40 centers will fit fine... I had one in my RA28 before I swapped the whole diff out for a hilux unit.

Was there much messing about to fit the diff? What model did you use?

Are you talking about the diff center or the whole assembly? I only fitted the center and it's a direct bolt in.

RN25 Hilux Diff (2 wheel drive)
I didnt' install it, but the axles didn't need to be shortened, and the mounts did need to be cut.
Not a home brew job.

Just spoke to a few wreckers this afternoon and could get RA40 diff centre pretty easily and cheaply ($110) but the option of a hilux diff was on the cards. Can quite easily get one for around $250 (75 model) is there much difference across the range 72-85?

Fuck, if that 75 model is a 2wd and it's an RN2x then for $250 I'd be jumping at the opportunity.

Was that a direct bolt in for the RA40 or the 'G' series that you put in ? was there any difference in ratio between the 40 and the 23?

My RN25 set me back $850 with an LSD center.... So if you found one for $250 and it is definately a RN25 / 27 Hilux... BUY IT!

I second Kirk on that one.
You'd absolutely die if you heard what I paid.
I paid
$1000 for an rn25 with diff (got about $200 back on parts for the heap of shit)
Paid $250 for a new LSD center
then installation was hella expensive. Seriously, if you have the ability to get an rn25 diff for $250, I wouldn't still be here on the net.
And btw, thanks for the kudos on the site, I hope that you like it. I should have more photos of the diff, I'll maybe do that on the weekend.
