Hey all.
I have recently got myself an ST162, with a jap 3sge 2nd gen it it..
Anyway, on the weekend I was trying to change the timing belt and was attempting to remove the drivers side engine mount... and what happens? I round the nut on it. FUCK!
So I have another few goes at removing it.. no luck.. my old man comes home.. 3 hours later, its more rounded more than ever.
I pack up. leave it.
Monday night, a mechanic mate of mine comes round.. has a look. "its pretty fucked" he says. OK.. we go and get his air hacksaw. Awsome tool! Anyway, we have a go at cutting through the nut and bolt after about 30 mins.. we are about 1mm in.. OK thats not going to work. tuesday night (tonight) I get out the drill, and start drilling away the bolt. After 2 houts, Im about 1 cm in..
Does anyone have ANY idea what the fuck I can do? In total, Ive spent like 10 hours over this thing, and all I can see is that ive fucked it up worse..
The next move is to try and mig weld a socket to the bolt and get it that way.
What does anyome think?
PLEASE HELP!
-Shaun

if the bolt is that far gone... say if its a 14mm, and its round , try bashing a 1/2 inch socket on it . and /or a 13mm on i t,!! try that , always works for me..!@

You can either weld a socket onto it or another nut...
Thats sounds like all you can do if its that stuffed,

Have you tried heating the nut up and using one of those spanners that tighten as you pull on them? Works for me. If that fails, try welding a bar on the nut and use that to try and crack the fucker.

There is a mobile guy in my area and thats all he does, come around and get broken/threaded/rounded stuff out.
Maybe a service like that near you?
I've never had anything he hasn't fixed within 30mins.

Yeah well the weld is my next move. My old man has a mig welder. So hopefully thats tomorrows episode.
Really a dude that comes round and removes them eh? Might check that out.
I had another look bout 10 mins ago. Damn its rounded. No edges yet at all.. I thought of taking it to a mechanic. But thought they might just laugh and tell me to piss off.

There's also the possibility of filing off opposite sides of the nut, so that you can get an open-ended spanner on it, but it is only feasible if you have plenty of room to play with. And it gets frustrating. Like a last resort type of thing. But it's a good way to get pissed off and see how high spanners bounce when you chuck them at concrete!! (I don't really treat my tools badly, it was stuffed anyway )

definitly time for a weld - you'll thank yourself for the 5 seconds it takes to weld it, and then hte 10 secs it takes to get the nut off.
