Not specific to ST185RC ('cos I dunno), but a generalisation of W-A intercoolers.

The red liquid is coolant. Exactly the same as in the radiator. The reason the coolant doesn't go in to the inlet is because it is isolated. There is no direct contact between the inlet charge and the coolant. Basically the intercooler consists of the inlet pipe runnning through a jacket of coolant. This coolant goes through the heat exchanger in the front bar, which is essentially the same as a radiator. So the inlet temps are controlled by the cooler, and the coolant is chilled by the heat exchanger.

Think of a water to air IC as two radiators, one which is encapsulated (heat exchanger) and one not.

The water flows around the two radiators via a moderately sized water pump.

The heat exchanger works in reverse to the way a normal radiator works, the water actually cools the charge air instead of the air cooling the water.
The main radiator is then cooled by air in a normal fassion.

so what does filler cap on the IC only fill the core? cause you can see in and out of the inlet pipe from the turbo and to the throttle inlet :S

Yep, it fills the water part.
You will also notices there's two much smaller pipes coming from the intercooler. These lead to the heat exchanger (another radiator) and the pump.
