ok i just recently have finished restoring the dash of my RA28. It was previously a DISGUSTING tan dash with cracked and broken bits everywhere, so i have spend many hours over the past few weeks fixing her up!

This is before i got to work, i have noted the pieces i used and didnt use in the restoration (since i had two dashes to choose from!)

Here is the dash after the painting job:

I used for black VHT Vinyl Penetrating Colour Dye (their version of Vinyl spray) Gloss Jet Black... and then i picked out a greyish looking fleckstone paint and clear coat from Bunnings. The Fleckstone took a while due to the immense amount of masking involved, but itw worth it! Very Happy

anyone wanting more info, just ask Smile

Wow, that looks really good. I painted my console cause it was brown. I cheated though on the trim. I took the woodgrain crap out, used it as a tensil and traced onto the back of contact paper and used that. Doesn't look as good as yours though.

That VHT stuff works well huh? Thats the stuff I've been using for my interior.
Does anyone know where in Perth I'b be able to go to get the actual dashpad re-trimmed?

Yeah i originally doubted the VHT stuff, but after using it it aint that bad! I wouldnt use it say if i were going to white (not that they had white Rolling Eyes) since its a dye rather than a paint, and it only soaks into the tops micron layers of the plastic, so it can be removed easily with thinners

dashpads are a bitch dude... they have to be vacuum moulded and reformed. Its an expensive job, but unbeatable for originality (or customised Very Happy). I was lucky my old RA28 had a PERFECT dashpad Razz

If I can find a perfect dashpad for the XX I will just use it and make it black, but everyone I've found has little imperfections and stuff Sad

Any idea on a price for the dashpads? I'm only looking to have it restored to new, nothing fancy.
