I am just wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be used for. The relay has EFI.ECD written on it. the car is a 1985 soarer. the EFI fuse in the bay is switched with this relay. and idea's what it could do? is my ECU not powered constantly???
Thanks

it is common to have an EFI relay? it isn't the main relay as that is separate. I thought the ECU obtained constant power from the EFI fuse but mine seems switched. and thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

i'll find a PDF of my wiring diagram suggests:
<http://members.optushome.com.au/mkhala/red_celica/ 1G-GTE_info/1g_gte_ecu_wiring.pdf> (430K PDF)
my 1ggte diagram suggest that:
20A EFI fuse gets perm batt power
7.5A IGN fuse gets switched power
see bottom of this page for some info but be aware that some of the data listed is out of date.
i'd suggest you ignore what the printing on the relay says and use multimeter and testing to determine what various relays/pin-outs/wires are actually doing when the key is an off, ign, sta ... etc.

yeah i did all that. i just wondered if it ran anything. since my main relay is switched on via the old loom i have wired the M-REL line to this and ran my own constant power lines. it seems to be happy with this as the car will start.

I suspect that the old 1gge ecu received its switched battery power from this relay, such as 5m-e's ect do in MA61's.
It's the same functionality as the M-REL, but switched via the ignition barrel as opposed to switched via the ECU. (as far as I am aware )
Cheers
