Wiring up fuel pump Sat, 23 July 2005 13:20 Go to next message
Hey all,
I'm after some help wiring up a fuel pump and sender on my car Embarassed . I am currently putting a map sensor 4AGZE into my CS corolla (carby). I have an efi tank pump and sender that i got from a wreckers now all i have to do it wired it up. Does anyone have any wiring diagrams or can explain how to wire this up. If it helps i also grabbed a whole rear efi loom from the wreckers. I found that two of the multi plugs on the efi loom plug straight into the 4AGZE drivers side kick panel fuse box but there are two extra plugs that don't plug in.
Thanks in advance Cool

Hey, I've got the ae92 wiring loom in my sprinter, if it will help I can check which wires go to fuel sender and fuel pump?

I found them a few months ago but can't remember off the top of my head the colour codes...
The wires go down the drivers side of the car though.

I used two wiring diagrams for ae92, they are for US corolla versions though I found most wires to be the same as from my jap halfcut ae92 levin gtz so might help you, post your email if you want me to send them.

I have done this... I did it as follows...

I used the entire frontcut loom, so that I had the EFI wiring etc, including headlight looms etc. I used everything from the frontcut, wiper motor, radiator with thermo's, wiper stuff. Everything.

Your rear loom is fine and will plug straight in, however you need to repin the plugs, it is easy to take the wires out of the plugs using a metal skewer or similar... Remembering that the GTZ didn't have rear speaker wiring, so you'll have 2 spare wires...

I also re-pinned, changed plugs, extended wires etc for my Instrument Cluster, Wiper Switch, Hazard Switch, Rear Demister Switch.

The dome light plug went straight in without any repinning...

Specifically for fuel, I took a large section of the rear loom from the vehicle I took the tank out of... I then unloomed the fuel pump plug from that rear loom and plugged it into my existing CS rear plug... It's the fat blue wire that is connected to the big plug in the center as a spade connector, it is situated under the thick black rear demister wire on the CS plug, which lines up with the GZE driver's kick.

All it took was patience, with a test light and a multimeter... I simply put indicators on, then probed the frontcut's rear wires until my test light flashed, same with brake lights, parkers etc.

If I can remember, I will sift through my shed and find my wiring notes for the rear plugs and the interior plugs if you need them...

I have a full rear loom too the kick panel put of an efi rolla. Two of the plugs from this loom plug straight into the gze kick panel fuse box. Butthere are two that dont. The two that dont are the ones with the thick blue and red wires that go to the pump

Have you used the entire frontcut loom?

Can you take a pic of the plugs that you are having trouble with.

I used my Carby rear loom and added a single power wire for the fuel pump... it was only 2 plugs from memory and both plugged in, just needed repinning.

Well the colours DID line up mostly.

What I did was this...

My frontcut had a bit of the rear loom that had been cut with the chassis... I undid the tape and put a nice piece of masking tape on each wire so I could label them.

Then I turned the car's ignition to the ON position and proceeded to check BRAKE LIGHTS, INDICATORS, REAR DEMISTOR, REAR WIPER, PARKER LIGHTS with a test light and multimeter

Doing this I worked out what each wire did and was able to then check its position in each plug.

I wrote this all down in a nice diagram of the plugs.

I then got mum to sit behind the car.

I then proceeded to check the above functions again and tapped the frontcut loom wire for say BRAKE LIGHTS onto the pin in my old carby loom's plug, which had the same colour etc.

Doing this we were able to workout almost everything.

I have my diagrams somewhere and can post them if u want.
