[AE86] Those rear side window seals Sun, 24 July 2005 12:11 Go to next message
Just wondering has anyone bought a NEW set? Are they obtainable? I've noticed alot of unanswered WTB threads on them, I wonder why? :S I
Clark Rubber; I haven't been to them and I don't think there's any near me, but I have the impression that they deal with rubber... soo... what are the chances of me getting mine replaced with Clark Rubber?

I need mine replaced and I don't like the idea/look of a home made silicon job.

Thanks for the replies, really appreciate the help.

dude, if you're having problems with rain water getting in, then all you need to do is take the plastic strip off and silicone up the window joints to prevent the water getting in - then put the plastic strip back on - it hides everything underneath, so new or old, it won't matter!

Yeah, Sikaflex is the best for this. Nice and flexible, lasts for years, only problem is its messier than normal silicone to apply, if your not carefull.

But then, wouldn't rain get through and hold in the window, which means rust will eventually form?

If i take these strips off, how easy to put it back on? Embarassed

Hey,
I think all these guys are refering to the visible black cover surrounding the window. If you remove this u will see a black rubber seal surrounds the window which has most likely. All you do is place silcone all the way around the window and place the visible black cover back in the right clips and rain should be kept out. Hope I explained that well.
Cheers

You can still get rust with those strips, my car did. The problem is those holes that holds clips to the window. Fill them up with sikaflex, put the clips in, and sikaflex all around the window or use window sealer
