Never been in 1.
They look good, they should go well with twin turbo V6 + 4WD !
Pretty rare too.

I've read around that they aren't that bad, can be made to go quite fast, the 4wd driveline appears to be reasonably strong. I bet it would be a nightmare getting parts for them here though. The only one I've seen in Canberra is a red one with qld numberplates (seen it a few times actually)
Overall though I'd say they'd be a pretty cool car to drive, don't look half bad either.

how would it be a nightmare to get parts they were released by Mitsubishi and sold in very low volume for about 8 years so they should be able to a work on them and b source parts easily as they would of needed to service and stock parts for the aus delivered stock.

I guess what I meant by nightmare is not toatally related to part 'availability' but also to with timeframes to get parts. Because they were sold in limited volumes there wouldn't be a massive amount of parts lying around for them I would say. Weren't they canned in 1999 due to poor sales? Were they sold here until then or stopped a few year earlier?

A mag i just bought actually had a writeup on them. Basically they're very easy to drive fast bu in terms of feedback and driver involvement, they're not particularly rewarding. This is offset (depending on your view) by the technology they come with. Very advanced for their time, like the GT-R. Overall its a quick GT car, not a sports car.
This last but is entirely rumour, but i remember hearing that modding them is not as straightforward as other cars. The turbos are pretty pissweak but due to location a str8 swap is difficult.

I've looked under the bonnet of one, and I think 'difficult' would be an understatement.

It's all packed in there very tightly, so would be VERY expensive to own and maintain one. But they go damn quick. 0-100 in the 5's, 1/4 mile in the low 13's. 4WS, AWD, electric everything.
Hot looking car, I'd love to own one if someone else paid the bills!

This sounds like a good mechanic to me. If he wasn't he'd tell you it's a great car and then gouge you on the huge labor costs for the repairs.
Do you mind telling me who the mechanic is?

My local mechanic reckons the only reason he is still in businees is because of crappy Mitsushitties.
I have no experience with the 3000GT its absolutely a technofile sort of car and its quite a big barge etc but i have seen some pretty hotted up ones, not my cup of tea but each to there own i say !
From experience with work cars i can seroiusly say i would never by a Mitsu express van and magnas or a mirage all absolute peices of CRAP !!!!
Better built and better backed......that is complete BS
I would need 2 weeks to list all the probs we have had...lucky its not my company !!!!!!!

i used to work for mitsu for 4 years, we used to have a few come thru, just remember, they are a $100,000 car originally, they run a Getrag 6 speed, uber exxy, and we had a 50 year old man bring his aus delivered one in running front wheel drive, he blew the transfer
mech: hey phil, how much is a 3000GT transfer
Phil: $7500, none in australia, i'll call the wrecker
boss: bend over, heres your bill
owner: ow, $4000

lol, so basically unless I have huge amounts of coin I shouldn’t bother with one. I like all the techno stuff that the car has, part of its attraction. They are also meant to be a really comfortable car to drive as well as fast, good handling etc.
Maybe should just save for ages and get a S2000 or nice JZA70. I do realise S2000 are 40k and up. Can dream
