VVT timing & quads - blacktop vs silvertop Tue, 26 July 2005 06:43 Go to next message
Just a coupla questions that need answering...

Quads - blacktop is MAP, silvertop is FAM... is this correct? I just paid 250 for MAP and think I got a good deal...

VVT - is there a difference between them? IE is blacktop progressive where silvertop is on/off? (rumour I want verified!)

Riv.

none on 20v are progressive the ecu is stupid style

the reason the aftermarket ecus tune on tps is cause they are to stupid to understand map when u have vacuum and boost on an engine

autronic can do it

some cheaper ones can just needs a tuner who knows what theyre doin

Cheers,

Just to verify, 20v silver and black are both switch on/switch off VVT.

No good tuning using TPS - its going on an offroad buggy and when you're in the really rough stuff, or landing off jumps etc the throttle bounces constantly, hence its tuned of MAP or AFM.

Question still remains though - are there differences between blacktop and silvertop for MAP/AFM? Or can someone direct me to a site which shows the differences?

We use EMS (load points can be MAP, AFM or TPS, or even all of the above!)

Cheers for your help!

What are the sizes of B/T and S/T quads?
I've search the net many times before but always found conflicting results.

I'll get the verniers onto the ones ive got at home tonight (which I beleive are black top) and put it up tomorrow - if someone else can put up silvertop we might have a definate answer!
