Steel to use for seat mounts

Hi,
I'm going to make up some seat mounts for a fixed back bucket seat. Will be a fixed mount with no rails fitted, just a frame between the floorpan and the seat. Was planning on using approx 2" flat plate steel, if this is significant. What grade and gauge of steel plate would be suitable?

Flat steel does not sound strong enough to me.
Mines made up of 20x20 box tube, and bolts into the 2 rear standard mounts and through the floor pan at the front with a brace underneath.
This is on a Silvia though with heavy track use.

yeah 3 to 5mm mild steel will be well strong enough. Hot or cold rolled, pickled and oiled if u like might wanna go and see if u can get some offcut from a sheetmetal joint, i know we scrap heaps. 3mm will be alot more common than 4 or 5mm.

For all it's worth, 3mm is the minimum requirements for engineering. That, and 8mm high tensile grade 8.8 bolts.
