Nah. A 1GZFE ECU has been available on Yahoo Auctions Japan for the last 6 months or so. Just no motor.

yeah i figured that after i read the thread...
however upon looking at the thread originally I thought it was talking about a supercharged 1G (1G-FZE) and the guy had just made a typo...
Forgot all about the V12 engine! Interesting...

The way it is going I think you'll be waiting another 10 or so years for them to come in under the 15 year import rule
oldcorollas: If at all possible can you gather a list of the auction houses that deal in both trade-in type vehicles and damaged vehicles as you come accross them? The one that have a web site... I have found a few but it is hard to search for Japanese sites. Maybe start a thread with that title?
For starters

A taster until Norbie gets his pics up.
As you can see, front sump, vvti on exhaust cam, FE head, timing chain, long intake runners, poor exhuast manifolds, twin TB's, quite similar setup to 1uz re: accessory mounting

Actually I'd like to put one of these in a stripped JZA80 shell and build the ultimate NA Mk4 Supra. 600hp should be easy enough.

so are the 1GZFE's that much different from the BMW 750/850 5L V12? (apart from the obligatory cabin fires and dual ECU)? cheaper and easier to source methinks.. since they burn up often

Don't these engines have pretty low compression? Which would be tasty for adding some form of forced induction.

As if you'd consider a 1GZ-FE build without having a substantial budget to do it properly. 2mm copper gaskets indeed.

<lol @ 2mm copper HG's>
Do it the PROPER way....
bolt on the intake volume enhancers and continue to increase intake absolute pressures until such time the engine breaks. Replace said broken bits with BIGGER/BETTER bits and increase intake absolute pressure even MORE.
Mr 1JZ - your take on engine builds is interesting...

how much would a set of custom pistons/rods/etc cost for such a motor?
the only reason I would do a 1GZFE is if it could be done on the cheap becuase there are no real super advantages to it, except for the fact its rare as fuck, it would sound completely spastic and its a V12...
if it were going to cost $25 grand to build as a twin turbo engine reliably id rather do it with a 1UZ....becuase you would end up making the same power, much cheaper....

and rods are similar.. ish?
so $500 per bore x 12 = $6K just for pistons and rods..
think customs 4cyl build then multiply by 3. a V12 is never going to be "cheap" ...
