Hey guys which would be best to put in my 92 corolla? I know the pure power and torque figures lead to the 3SGTE but i heard 4agze is a direct bolt on replacement nearly and 3sgte is harder to install. How hard is the 3sgte to install, is it worth the effort? anyways any help is appreciated cheers

4agze if you're looking at a cheaper alternative with decent power, as its pretty much a straight bolt in...
The 3sgte on the other had is more of a custom job, and does result in more power, and from what i've heard and seen there is dead set about 1mm clearance around the engine bay. Some approx cost for the conversion would be close to around $12K

The 4agze IS a direct bolt in.
Well, there was actually one hole missing for one of the resistor brackets on the passenger strut tower... but I figured the other 2 bolts would hold it inplace just fine
Power is quiet nice, especially stepping up from a 4AF.

Hmm i think i'll just go the 4AGZE now if only i could muster up a bit of cash i'd be right lol. Hey just curious u wouldnt know anywhere close to Wagga where a conversion could be done would u? I was thinking of going to canberra. any good places there? or i was also considering doing the transplant mostly myself even though im a complete nowbie to this and then just leave the wiring of the loom and ecu and whatever to an auto electrician wat u think?

i wouldnt recommend doing it yourself, have someone with you who knows their stuff, as the best thing to do is replace a few bits and pieces on/in the engine that may cause trouble later down the road like water pump, belts etc etc.
If you come to sydney or some major surrounding parts there are heaps of places that can do a drive in drive out job...

Sorry I don't mate, I did it with a few mates who are mechanically inclined.. though this was fairly new to us all... It's not a hard conversion, preparation is the key.
It has cost a fair bit, I did things right the first time, replaced waterpump, timing belt etc, radiator reconditioned, heatercore reconditioned, new clutch kit, driveshafts reco'd etc.
It depends how much you are willing to spend on it though. I could have just dumped all the frontcut stuff in without freshening it up or replacing things, but I didn't want to go to the effort of changing the entire engine bay over without making sure it was as reliable as I could afford...
I've only ever done a little bit of wiring in the past, and due to my car being carby before, I simply used the entire frontcut loom, then adapted it where necessary... not hard, just takes patience and some logical thinking.
