 Engine in '74 Celica

hey im ben, and i need to know the engine that was in the 2 door '74 celica, cos my friend says he has a 1.6 litre in it but thats all i know about the car, could sumeone tell me what model engine they came with and what model this celica is
and he says the sparkplugs go into the top of the engine (rocker cover) he says, so any info appreciated
BTW i own a toyota liteace with a injected / turbo 5K engine, therfore u could call the engine a 5K-TE

The engine woule be a single cam 2T. Its a 1.6L and yes the plugs are in the top of the head down in the pots of the rocker cover.
Oh and the car is a TA22.
