Wolf3d 1GGZE Help, Ignitors, Coils? HELL CONFUSED! Tue, 02 August 2005 15:18 Go to next message
Trying to figure out how to go about this, did the 1ggze originally use ignitors of any sort? Im aware that the wolf3d cannot fire coils directly, so do i need ignitors? or are they part of the strange coil packs the 1ggze uses?
Any ideas on the subject, Would be much appriciated!
Steve

I dont know about 1ggze but I am running 4agze with wolf 3d and I needed two ignitors to fire the two coils. I emailed wolf and they stated a bosch ignitor would be fine. I think there is information on wolf website and the manual.

the 1ggze coil packs are the same as 1ggte and 4agze - they need ignitor. 1G-GZE should have a single box that drives all three coilpacks - but it needs to talk to a toyota ECU and relevant engine sensors.

you only choice is kind of ignitors: dwell or no-dwell control (e.g. can the wolf3d can do dwell control or does it rely on the ignitors to do that).

You will need three ignitors to run your three coils. Using Bosch 008 ignitors should be fine (from a Camira, their long part number ends in a 008). Not sure on the whole dwell thing, I am sure the Wolf has adjustable dwell times, but I didn't touch these values and my coils run fine.

Look at the Motec and Haltech sites to find wiring diagrams for these ignitors.

Basically you'll wire your three ingition outputs from the Wolf to the ignitors. And the three outputs from the ignitors to the coils. Pretty simple really.

Read the installation manual to find out how to set up the ignition for 6cyl waste spark.
