Strange Missing/Hesitating/Fuel Delivery Issue when cruising

Got the car back from the panelbeater on Sat to discover that it has started missing when there is a moderate throttle with the revvs between 2 and 3k usually. Though sometimes earlier I get this problem.
It's like what it feels like when you run out of petrol.
At WOT the car feels great, so I would be surprised if it was the pump.
And it idles great too!
But after cruising at 60 in 4th for 30 seconds it starts to get angry 50% of the time or so. Been having a bit of trouble isoloating it and wondering if you all have any ideas
I also checked to make sure the air pipes were connected well, as that can cause issues like this

it might actually be the O2 sensor (for once)
sinc it takes a little time to occur (the ECU adjusting to the incorrect signal) and only happens during cruising..
check that wires have not been detached perhaps, and try to get a multimeter onto the O2's output wire to se what it is doing when you get the hesitations.. on cruise it should be flicking between high and low voltages (maybe 0.8/0.2V?) as the ECU adjusts, but if it rails either way, the ECU may be overcompensating..
