Hot coil problem

Hi
on my ta22 with 2t, the coil gets real hot when ignition its turned on, does anyone know what might be the reason to this?

It's normal for an ignition coil to get pretty hot.

even when the car is not running, just the igniton is turned on?
hmm.. i never noticed this before on any of my cars

You shouldn't leave the ignition on when the engine isn't running. If the points happened to be closed there will be constant current flowing through the coil, which will cause it to become excessively hot and fail prematurely.

oh i see...
that explains it, i left it on by accident, but that was when i discovered it was so hot.
