Clutch's

Hey guys, while the motor was out, My clutch (Which was only replaced 5 months ago) has about 1mm of meat left, so Im going to change. This one was a 4 puck brass, mechanic saying brass doesnt last too long. He is going to order a 5 puck Ceramic Exedy, but my friends tell me its too harsh, and break box's. Mind you, they drive nissans lol (S15 and R32 GTR) Do I need to worry about this? or is it their power levels (250rwkw S15 and 350kw all 4 GTR) that is breaking their gearbox's? Note, I run a JZA80 W58.
Cheers
Shane

I would've thought that a brass button would be harsher than a ceramic button clutch.

I started breaking W58's after I installed my 5-puck ceramic clutch. The stronger the clutch the more likely you are to break drivetrain components. Having said that, it's more about driving style than anything. Obviously I'm not very gentle.

A brass button clutch is definitely more harsh than a ceramic.

This is the type of clutch plate i run in my 300 kW, 1750 kg cruiser, with about 2500lb clamp load. Couldn't speak more highly of the setup.

That particular one is an xtreme clutch from adelaide clutch.
Mine is not an extreme, mine was custom made but is the same design, I suppose you would call it sprung centre semi puck ceramic or sprung centre multiple ceramic button
