Ok,
So you'll have a number of wires in the case to hookup...
The bare minimum... coloured wire is the positive one, this only matters for the LED's.
Power Switch (PWR, usually Green/Black)
Power LED (PLED, usually green/white)
Reset Switch (RST, usually black/white)
HDD LED (HDD, usually orange/white)
Extras
2 sets of Front USB Port wire sets... Power(VCC, Red), Negative (-, White), Positive (+, Green), Ground (GND, Black)
Firewire (8-10 wires, need a manual)
Front Audio (minimum 7 wires)
If you have a fairly recent PC, then chances are that the normal case wires are all in one cluster. That cluster is
Power LED - Power Switch
HDD LED - Reset Switch
Take a closeup of your mobo and your case connectors and I can give u an answer straight away, alternatively gimme your mobo model number.
If you really get stuck, gimme a PM and i can do it for you in seconds, if you are close by.

The model number + manufacturer is normally printed onto the PCB.
You just gotta look for it

if it's an msi mobo, try placing the plugs vertically instead of horizontally if they don't work. i followed the exact instructions that came with my mates mobo to help him get the lights/front usb/audio working, but it was completely wrong in the manual.
so like...instead of;
==.
try..
||||.
(base pattern is ::::. with each dot being a pin, lines are the separate plugs)
sorry the equals didn't really work the way i wanted

just to get you going, the cables 'M/B SW' and 'RESET' should be back to back, just try as many combos as possible, it won't do any harm

on boot up, the VERY first screen should tell you what motherboard you've got and what revision it is (keep resetting till you get all the info). Then go ask google (or the manufactorer)
usually most motherboards have it written under the pins

haha it wasnt so long ago that i posted thanks for helping but im in need of help again... i mean i got it all together but i think i may of muffed up on the thick data cord things... going from hdd,cd and the floppy drive. i know theres primary which would be the one with the red base on the mother board. and im guess the hdd's would primary. then the cd and the floppy.
because every time i turn the thing on it says something about putting in a boot disk... im like wtf?
so yes HELP is needed with an unabled computer geek.
im just a want a be. i use to be up to times when the pentium 2's were all the rage.

Your Hard Disk Drive should be on PRIMARY IDE, sometimes called IDE 0, or IDE 1 (if there is an IDE 2).
Your CD/DVD should be on SECONDARY IDE, sometimes called IDE 1 (if there's an IDE 0) or IDE 2.
Your Floppy will be on FDD...

You need to go into BIOS (press delete on the first page) and fix all the settings.
Change stuff like processor speed and multiplier to match the CPU chip you put in.
You'll also need to make it detect the HDDs and CD rom etc. then go in and set your boot priority to be CD first, HDD seccond (other HDD 3rd).
It shouldn't matter what order or what lines the HDDs and CDROMS are plugged in, they need to be detected and moved around inside of windows anyway (getting them on the right cords at the start does help though).
