Opinion s on Custom "K" motor idea Mon, 08 August 2005 13:30 Go to next message
Hi all I am on my beack into rollas again.

I have had an idea how to get a hybrid K motor by using parts from all K motors

Heres the idea that I have;
5K block with a 3K crank, custom pistons 5mm higher than standard on 7K conrods, use 4K re ground cam and standard 4K valve train. Shave block and a 4K head so the 2 together loose 5mm.

What I hope will be is a rev happy K hybrid motor approx 1350cc and will see 7500rpm all day everyday.

Also something to be different.

If any of this is not possible please feel free to explain why.

The idea works in my head but then again they said that communnism works too!

Regards Dale.

I'm interested to see the results, but unfortunately I don't really know if any of that will/won't work. Good luck man.
Thanks
Troy

i think the valve train is more of an issue than the stroke.
i also think that the pn height and piston design should be uite so tall.. ie more like every other decent motor.. as opposed to the drink botle style pistons they have now..

it is a lot of work when you will still be restricted by the head and valve train, and the fact that it is 1350cc..

fwiw, my 4K went to 7000+ nearly every gearchange for a few years. never broke.

but i like your idea Wink.. aren't 7K rods skinny?

Sure sounds like a lot of fiddling... and the 'put a 4AG in it' mob will be willing to impart their advice on you, but I'd love to see the result if you did manage to pull it off.

I dunno I never seen a 7K rod. Look at this way, the rods in a 7K are used as long stroke, I just want them to fill up some space in the motor to bring the pistons to the deck of the block and head. They may not be partically strong, is there an alternative?

Is there anything wrong with a 4K head? like restrictions.

Could I use a 5K head and shave the crap out of it to get the CR up, as there will be 5mm extra in height in the combustion chamber or leave it, could this be useful for forced induction?
