ma 70 problems Tue, 09 August 2005 07:06 Go to next message
hey i got a squeeling noise coming from the back of my motor/ front of gearbox.. (r154 manual) sometimes it has problems going into gear when cold and on really cold starts it makes a noise like brakes squeeling for a while then it goes away..

also when i get on boost it feels like it bogs down hard between 5-10psi but after that it pulls ok (running 15psi) however it still feels a little sluggish even on full boost..

Was told it could be some gasket goo that got in the way when putting the intake manifold together (2 piece) that might explain the bogging down but that noise sounds evil..

any hints would be appreciated..

that sounds like clutch issues to me...hows your fluid levels, fluid condition, slave cylinder condition? did you do this manual conversion or has the box never been removed?

did the manual conversion, got a used slave cylinder-- reconditioned and cleaned it.. as new.. fluids are full and all connections seem ok..

was thinking clutch would explain the gear problems, but what about the noise and bogging down.. although it feels like clutch slip, it still pulls afer 10psi..

my bro mentioned something about the thrust bearing maybe being fucked, do you know anything about that??
cheers

yep they make squealing noises Smile that is the thrower bearing he is referring to, it is attached to the clutch fork.
